Basic Machine Merchandise’ Ramrod is a trailer-mounted, powered duct-rod pusher. It’s a mechanized technique for working with GMP’s 1/2-inch duct rods, the company says, offering an alternate to rodding trucks that may cause damage to current cable due to their significant energy. The Ramrod is hydraulically powered, GMP says, providing exact control and the power to push and pull forces as much as 300 pounds, at speeds up to 130 ft per minute.
The trailer-mounted setup gives handy maneuverability and transportability, in response to Basic Machine Merchandise. The system features a gasoline-driven power pack, hoses, and a locking waterproof storage box. An electronic monitoring system measures rod-pushing footage and velocity. Once the conduit has been rodded, the Ramrod retrieves the rod via its bidirectional drive track. Throughout retrieval, a window permits the rod to be wiped clear earlier than being stored again on the cassette.
